			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>For those of you who are considering getting a broker to sell your boat, I would recommend against The Catamaran Company.  I have had hassles since the day we signed with them.  </p>
<p>They insisted I have some paperwork from Customs in order to sell the boat to US citizens.  I have seriously made over a hundred calls, emails and visits to rectify this situation.  My boat has been US Documented for over ten years, has been state registered in two separate states, by three different people.  I have shown Customs all my paperwork and they have told me four times that this additional requirement from the Catamaran Company is not required and unnecessary to sell  the boat to US citizens.  Two of those times over the phone, once in person at their office, and I also have it twice in writing.  The Catamaran Company wouldn&#8217;t budge unless I paid their customs broker to file some paperwork, which includes a survey and paying additional duty on the boat that according to customs is not required. They never once responded to my requests for a copy of the regulation or rule that required me to maintain the documents they wanted me to buy.  I couldn&#8217;t find it, and customs said I didn&#8217;t need it.  By this time our 6 month contract was coming to a close, I just wanted out.  </p>
<p>As an aside, our broker has never seen our boat except by photo.  He&#8217;s had multiple opportunities to see it.  We made the effort to be in Annapolis for the fall boat show as he requested, but no one looked and neither did he.  We were also in Ft Lauderdale for three weeks this winter during the Miami boat show and he never came aboard to look, nor did any potential customers.</p>
<p>When I tried to cancel at the 6 month minimum contract term, as required in the contract, they would not release the listing to a new broker.  Their contract has double talk when it comes to the cancelling.  It states there is a 6 month minimum contract time.  It also states that it can&#8217;t be cancelled until after the 6 months.  It further states that once you cancel, you have to wait 90 days before the cancellation takes effect.  That seems like a 9 month contract minimum to me.  But I&#8217;m no lawyer.</p>
<p>They told me after I cancelled that I was no longer a customer and did not respond to requests I made in writing to change my listing.  It continued to run without my approval.  (I was trying to limit the amount of potential buyers they were tainting against my boat.)</p>
<p>Think twice before hiring The Catamaran Company!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Savannah&#8217;s waterfront park has dock space that is free for 3 hours, and only $1.00 a foot per day. The deal comes when you try to pay. <p>There is quite a current, but the dock is a concrete floater, there is water and some 15A electricity for temporary use. There&#8217;s room for about 4-5 boats to tie up. Up and down the river a spell is some more public wall that is also available. <p>On Friday there was a fireworks show. Saturday had live entertainment and a craft fair. And every night is a party on River St. We celebrated our 20th Anniversary at the Cotton Exchange, right across the street from the dock. Get the Shrimp and Grits it was fantastic!</p>
<p>There are free busses and ferries for the immediate downtown area, and a pretty reasonable bus system for the rest of town.</p>

<p>At first I thought the anchor just needed to be popped free from the bottom, so I gave it a little throttle.<br />
CRACK, SNAPPLE AND POP! We just busted our anchor roller, time to fix something else.</p>
<p>Mmm, I guess the anchor is stuck on something. It took quite a while just to get the anchor to the top of the water. We used a halyard, with a hand cranked winch, and the Windlass electric winch together to finally get it to where we could see what the problem was. When we did there was a large mooring chain wrapped around our anchor, with the point of our anchor right through one of the links.</p>
<p>I attached the halyard to the chain to release the tension; after a short lift I found that the mooring chain was twisted just below the anchor. At this point, Debi was working the controls to keep the boat steady. I needed another set of hands. Thankfully &#8220;When and If&#8221; came to the rescue. They&#8217;re a boat out of Vineyard Haven, MA.<br />
A halyard attached to the chain and a spare line attached to the other side allowed us to spread a hole large enough to push the anchor through.</p>
<p>The whole fiasco &#8211; It only took an about an hour and a half; so much for making the next bridge opening at Wappo Creek.</p>
<p>Thanks &#8220;When and If&#8221; for being there in the here and now.</p>
